A 17 month old baby dies after he slipped into a canal in Rajpora area of Pulwama district on Thursday. An official said that a baby identified as Athar Shakeel son of Shakeel Ahmad Bakshi resident of Bellow Pulwama slipped into a canal near his residence.

His family jumped into the canal and evacuated the baby to nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, he said. A pall of gloom has descended in the area.
