Policeman, who was injured during a chance encounter in Nowhatta area of Srinagar yesterday, has succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, official sources said here on Monday.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the policeman identified as Sarfaraz Ahmad of Batote Ramban was injured during a chance encounter in Nowhatta area on Sunday evening.

He said that the injured cop was shifted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Notably, a militant was also injured during the encounter, while the vehicle used by the militants was also seized.

Police also said that one AK-74 rifled and two grenades were also recovered during the search operation.
