Incarcerated Kashmiri Activist Khurram Parvez Features In Times Magazine 100 Most Influential People List

Renowned Kashmiri human rights activist, Khurram Parvez currently imprisoned in Delhi Jail on “terrorism and conspiracy” charges, has been named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people across world in the Leaders category for 2022.

The imprisoned human rights defender was included in the Leaders category alongside India’s Karuna Nundy, a Supreme Court lawyer, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his Ukraine counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Parvez was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India in November last year after several raids on his home and office in Srinagar, Kashmir.

Written by Journalist Rana Ayyub, Time Magazine mentions Khurram as “modern-day David who gave a voice to families that lost their children to enforced disappearances, allegedly by the Indian state. Khurram is the story and the storyteller of the insurgency and the betrayal of the people of Kashmir”.
