Srinagar, Dec 03: On account of emergence of new Covid-19 variant, Omicron, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have made RT-PCR test mandatory at the Srinagar International Airport for international arrivals.

The order was issued by the State Executive Committee under section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 for additional measures with regard to international arrivals.

The order made mandatory RT-PCR tests at Srinagar International Airport and stated that any person found positive shall be quarantined and treated as per protocol, while people arriving from “At-Risk” nations who test negative will have to be home quarantine for 7 days and should test again on day 8. Those arriving from “not-at-risk” countries and test negative are advised to carefully monitor themselves for at least 2 weeks.

The order further mentioned implementation of “Test-Track-Treat-Vaccinate” principle to ensure containment measures as per MoHFW guidelines and to prevent the spread of Variants of Concern and formation of cluster of cases.
