The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), on Friday announced that students wearing Hijab will not be permitted to enter the examination hall to take the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional courses.
The students must remove their Hijab before entering the examination hall. The KEA has also clarified that any cloth or dress that symbolises religion is not permitted.
CET students are not permitted to wear ‘Mangalsutras,’ nose rings, ear rings, gold chains, bangles, or other gold ornaments. Students have also been asked not to bring watches, calculators, or any other electronic devices.
Meanwhile, authorities in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka suspended 6 students for wearing Hijab on Thursday.
