Jammu and Kashmir has been directed by the supreme Court to clear all the pending liabilities of minimum wage of sweepers within 8 weeks.
The bench of Justices BR Gavai and AS Bopanna has also directed for regular monthly payment to sweepers from the month of May 2022.
It has been noted by the bench that despite repeated directions the sweepers continued to be paid inadequate wages of INR 100 per month (Rs 3 per day) since March 2015.
