Army Officer, Among Four Soldiers Killed In Doda Gunfight

Army officer and three soldiers were killed in an encounter in Uran Baggi inĀ  Dessa forests, Doda district on Monday.

Sources said that a contact was established with terrorists in the Uran Baggi forests in the general area of Dessa in district Doda in which a captain rank Army officer and three soldiers were killed in the incident.

“The firing continued for around 30 minutes and militants probably fled away into the forest area by taking advantage of darkness. Army and J&K police cordoned off the area and searches are going on,” the source said.

The source said that bodies of the Army officer and three soldiers have been air lifted to northern command headquarters at Udhampur.

Meanwhile, 16 Corps spokesman in a post on X last night wrote, “Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by #IndianArmy and JKP was in progress in General area North of #Doda. Contact with terrorists was established tonight at about 2100h in which a heavy firefight ensued. Initial reports suggest injuries to our brave-hearts. Additional troops have been moved into the area. Operations are continuing.”

However, later sources confirmed that all four soldiers succumbed. (KNO)
