Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sopore on Saturday evening said to have busted a militant hideout and recovered arms and ammunition from it.
An official said that they recovered one Pistol, 02 pistol Magazines, 18 No of live pistol rounds and one pistol pouch from a hideout, used by the militants.
“Militants have used this hideout as a safe place to keep arms and ammunition with a view to create a militant induced incident thereby disturbing the peace in the valley,” said a police official.
While sharing details, a police spokesman said that they received an information through reliable sources regarding the hideout at Logripora Bomai village of Sopore.
Following the inputs, a joint cordon and search operation by Sopore Police, 179 CRPF Battalion and Army’s 22 RR was launched following which the hideout was busted while arms and ammunition were also recovered.
Following the incident, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Bomai and investigation has been set into motion, police added.
