There terrorists involved in attack of a policeman in Srinagar have been arrested, DGP RR Swain said on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference at PCR Srinagar Swain said that On 09-12-2023 at around 1910 hours Police Station Bemina received information to the effect that at Hamdaniya Colony Bemina (Mithai Bund), unknown terrorists with their illegal arms have fired upon one Police Personnel namely Mohd Hafeez Chak (SgCt) S/O Gh. Hassan Chak R/O Lontha Karnah A/P Hamdaniya Colony Bemina (Mathai bund) who is presently posted at Police Post Bana Mohalla (Fateh Kadal) due to which he got injured.
“The injured Policeman was shifted to JVC Hospital for treatment and later on to 92 Base Hospital Badamibagh Army hospital.” He Said.
“Accordingly, Case FIR No. 112/2023 U/S 307 IPC, 7/27 A. Act, 16, 18, 38 UAP Act, 120-B IPC was registered in P/S Bemina. During the course of investigation, based inputs subsequently corroborated by technical evidences, few suspects were zeroed in and upon their sustained questioning they confessed to their involvement in the said attack.” Swain said
“Accordingly accused namely Imtiyaz Ahmad Khanday S/o Tariq Ahmad Khanday R/o Hamdaniya Colony Sector-A, Danish Ahmad Mala S/o Gh Mohd Malla R/o Hamdaniya Colony Sector- A and Mehran Khan @Mehran S/o Mehraj Din Khan R/o Khawajapora Saidapora Rainawari Srinagar were arrested in the instant case. Weapon of offence and huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered on their specific disclosures.” He added.
The recoveries include Imtiyaz Ahmad Khanday- 1 Canik TP09 Pistol of Turkish make, 1 magazine, 1 round 9mm (Weapon of Offence), Mehran Khan- 1 Canik TP09 Pistol of Turkish make, 1 magazine, 7 rounds (Bullets) 9mm and Danish Malla-57 total Rounds 9mm and 2 Magazines
“They further disclosed that they were in touch with one PAK based handler @ Hamza Burhan who along with these three accused persons hatched a conspiracy to target a police personal in Srinagar city in furtherance of which Danish along with Imtiyaz identified a target and executed their plan on 9th December 2023. Further arms and ammunition were illegally trafficked from across for this attack.” He said.
Total recoveries include 2 pistols, 65 rounds and 4 magazines, he said.
