Fake Currency Recovered In Kulgam, Accused Held: Police

Kulgam police arrested an individual and recovered fake Indian currency notes from his possession. An official said that a police party from Police Post Mirbazar headed by IC PP Mirbazar established a checkpoint on NHW 44 near Manigam crossing and during checking one suspicious person was signaled to stop.

 

However, he tried to escape from the spot but was tactfully chased and apprehended by the alert party, he said. He has been identified as Khurshid Ahmad Naik son of Mohammad Maqbool Naik resident of Waripora, Kund, he said.

 

During search, officers were able to recover 37 counterfeit currency notes of ₹500 from his possession, he said adding that he has been arrested and shifted to Police Post Mirbazar. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 31/2023 U/S 489B, 489C IP has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation into the matter has been initiated, he said
