Licenses Of Five Chemist Shops Suspended In Doda

Licences of five chemist shops were suspended in Doda for selling intoxicating drugs to youth.

Police sources told Kashmir Scroll said that Chemist Shop of one Ishtiaq Ahmed Batt son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Sarafan Mohalla Bhaderwah running on the name of Rehan Medical Hall near Mandir Market in Bhaderwah town was raided by a police team of Police Station Bhaderwah after receiving a specific information that he was selling banned drugs to youths. During search, some scheduled drugs in suspicious condition were found by Police team and thereafter his shop was sealed in the presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class Bhaderwah for further appropriate action.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier a case FIR No. 170/2014 U/S 08/21/22 NDPS Act was also registered against the said Chemist in Police Station Bhaderwah for his involvement in selling banned drugs to the youth and the case after completion of investigation was challaned against him in the Court of law.

Accordingly, Doda Police prepared a detailed report / recommendation and forwarded the same to the concerned licensing authority. Consequently, on the report / recommendation of Doda Police, Drugs Control Officer Doda suspended the license of his Chemist Shop for illegal trade practice.

Worthwhile to mention here that licenses of four other Chemist Shops proprieted as (1) M/S Manhas Medical Shop Dandi Bhaderwah, (2) M/S Malik Drug Store Khellani Doda (3) M/S Javid Medical Hall Kahara Gandoh and (4) M/S Mir Medicate near PHC Bhalla Bhaderwah have also been suspended by licensing authority on the report / recommendation of Doda Police for selling intoxicating / habit forming drugs to youth of the area, police said.

Doda Police has urged upon all owners of Chemist Shops running in the District to desist from selling intoxicating /habit forming drugs to youths which is spoiling their career and eating their vitals. Doda Police has warned that if any owner of the Chemist Shop found selling such type of drugs to youth, stern action will be initiated which includes attachment of moveable/immoveable property, detention under PSA besides registration of FIR against such black traders.
