Bear Spotted Roaming In Srinagar’s Rajbagh

Panic gripped Rajbagh area of Srinagar after a bear and it’s cub were seen roaming in the area late last night, even as the wildlife department and police have asked the residents to stay indoors till the bear is caught.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Wildlife Warden Altaf Hussain said that he received a call last night that a bear and its cub have been seen roaming in the area.

He said that a team has launched a search operation and probable areas are being searched so that the bear is caught.

He also advised people to stay indoors, especially don’t leave the children alone and lock the main gates of their houses, so as to prevent any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, Srinagar police also issued an advisory asking people to stay indoors after a CCTV footage surfaced, wherein a bear and its cub can be seen roaming in Rajbagh area.

“One Wild Bear & a small Cub are roaming in Rajbagh locality of Srinagar. Wildlife officials & Police are on the job. Citizens of this & nearby areas are advised to remain indoors till it is caught. If anyone notices/sees the bear, pls inform at SHO Rajbagh’s number 7006572050,” police tweeted.
