On Tuesday, June 28, a number of media organisations, including Editors Guild of India and Press Club of India, criticised the detention of Mohammad zubair, a co-founder of Alt news.
The Editors Guild of India has denounced Mohammad Zubair’s detention, stating that it is clear that Alt News alert vigilance was resented by those who use falsehood as a tool to polarise the public and stoke nationalist sentiments. PCI has also demanded that the Alt News co-founder be released immediately.
In an odd turn of events, Zubair was summoned for questioning by the Delhi police special cell in a case from 2020 for which he already had a Delhi High court order protecting him from arrest.
