10 days post killing of two Muslim youth in Ranchi protest on 10 June, no FIR has been registered yet.

One among the slain was a 15-year-old minor. Minor’s family had registered complain with the local police station but to no avail.

Eyewitnesses revealed when the protests were going on, a well known Hindutva activist, Bairon Singh, fired gunshots from roof of Hanuman temple to which protesters responded with stone pelting. As protest turned violent, police on other side also fired on protesters.

Bairon Singh had previously called for an economic boycott of Muslims. In 2021, he had attacked the convoy of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, after which he reportedly spent some time in jail.

Bairon, has filed a counter complaint against deceased teenager’s family alleging that a conspiracy is being “hatched by a community to tarnish his image” in the violent incident that took place after Friday prayers on Ranchi’s Main Road.

He has named Tablighi Jamaat and Jharkhand Muslim Youth Forum, run by deceased minor’s uncle, in the complain.

Minor’s family is going to file a petition in Ranchi High Court today, on Monday, 20 June 2022.
