Slovakia’s Defense Ministry on Thursday announced that it will supply eight Zuzana 2 howitzers to Ukraine.

Though Slovakia called sending the self-propelled artillery systems to Kyiv as ‘help’, it pointed out that the howitzers would be supplied as part of a commercial contract, meaning that Kiev will have to pay for the hardware. The value of the deal hasn’t been disclosed, Russian TV network RT reported.

Its gun is capable of sending 155mm rounds to a distance of up to 50km. The howitzer can make six shots per minute due to its automatic loading mechanism.

“We are lucky to have Slovakia as a neighbor,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba wrote on Twitter.
