Hyderpora Killings: J&K High Court Reserves Verdict On Petition Seeking Return Of Body

Jammu and Kashmir High Court, on Thursday reserved verdict on a petition appealing for return of the body of Amir Magray, one of three people killed in the Hyderpora Encounter last year.
The petition was filed last December by the father of the slain, Mohammad Lateif Magray, through his counsel. The petitioner, referring to the fact that the bodies of two others killed in the encounter had erstwhile been returned, pleaded with the court to direct the authorities to hand over his son’s body for his last rites at his residence, near Ramban.
Amir’s father had also met Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha on the 7th of December last year to insist him for the return of his son’s body and to make the findings of the magisterial probe public.
According to the petitioner, him and his wife haven’t even been given a chance to see their son’s face one last time, and have been grieving and restless ever since. Magray maintains that he wishes to bury his son near his home, in a peaceful environment, and according to proper rites and rituals.
Meanwhile, The Special Investigation Team Head, DIG Sujith K Singh said in a press conference earlier this year, that Amir was closely associated with foreign militant ‘Bilal Bhai’ killed in the operation.
