Today, on Thursday, scores of students in Kashmir University staged a sit-in protest outside department of Chemistry against sacking of a professor on Wednesday.
Professor Altaf Hussain Pandit, was sacked along with two other government employees by authorities on the charges of “militancy links and secessionist activities”.
The protesting students termed the allegations as ‘baseless’ and requested the Jammu and Kashmir administration to revoke the order.
As per the order, Professor Altaf Hussain became a member of Kashmir University Teachers Association in 2015 and is said to have links with Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).
