5.7 Magnitude quake jolts Valley

Srinagar, Feb 05: This morning at around 9:46AM IST strong tremors of magnitude 5.7 Ritcher Scale hit Jammu and Kashmir.

According to National Center for Seismology, the epicenter was in Afghanistan-Tajikistan Border Region, Latitude 36.340 and Longitude 71.05, at a depth of 181km.

Top part of the Minaret at the Shrine of Shaykh Noor ud Din Noorani, Char e Shareif, Budgam was reported to have tilted.

Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to Lieutenant Governer Jammu Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, over the situation in UT following the earthquake.

Tremors were also felt in parts of India including Delhi NCR. Strong shocks were felt in Islambad, Pakistan as well.
