Srinagar, Dec 13: The situation in Jammu and Kashmir has deteriorated since August 05, 2019 when the region was stripped off its special status and divided into two union territories, said National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah.
During a party workers convention at Kupwara, He said that there is an absolute change in the situation of Jammu and Kashmir after August 05 2019, but not in good way.
“There are two types of changes – one is for betterment and the other is deterioration. After August 05 2019, the situation in J&K has only deteriorated and nothing has been done for the betterment of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Omar said that people are distressed about the present situation and there is a kind of anger among people as well as fear. Expressing concern he further added, “People do not feel safe in their own land as the security scenario of Kashmir has completely worsened. The civil administration also does not take the common people into confidence anymore. There is no one who can listen to the problems of people and to solve their issues. But we also cannot do anything right now as we are helpless.”
Replying to a question, Omar said “No announcement has been made for holding elections in J&K and neither the delimitation process is complete. Let the delimitation commission finish its job and after which elections could be held.”
