Srinagar, Dec 09: According to World Health Organization, early evidence suggests that omicron variant may be more contagious than the highly transmissible delta variant, which is by far the most widespread and deadly version but less severe.
The technical lead for COVID at the UN health agency further added that its too early to reach to any conclusions as there is only anecdotal information about the new variant for now.
The new variant, Omicron first emerged in southern Africa last month, prompting many countries to shut their borders fearing the impact of new virus that is spreading at unprecedented rate.
