Srinagar, Dec 08: In an IAF helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, 8 December Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and staff, as well as other senior officials on-board died.

The identification of the bodies will be confirmed through DNA testing.

The IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter crashed near Coonoor area of Tamil Nadu while heading to Wellington base from Sulur in Nilgiris with 14 persons on board, including the crew. The Air Force on its official Twitter handle confirmed the accident and said that an inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.
