New Power Curtailment Schedule Announced By KPDCL For Winter Months

Srinagar, Dec 07: Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL), formerly known as the Power Development Department (PDD) has announced a power curtailment schedule for winter months in Kashmir. Accordingly the non-metered areas will face a power cut for 6 to 7.5 hours per day while the metered areas will face curtailment for 4.5 to 6 hours per day.

As per the new schedule power curtailment hours have been increased almost twice to that of the schedule announced earlier, which was 3 hours per day for non-metered areas and 1.5 hours per day for metered areas.

According to officials this has been done due to the the misuse of electricity. Despite 15% increase in supply compared to last year, there is manifold increase in the demand for supply. The demand has increased to 2800 MV, while the available supply is around 1750 MV, keeping that in view the new schedule has been announced, said the officials. He further made an appeal for the judicious use of electricity.
